Max is an incredible teacher, he did a great job of explaining things to us and keeping things light and fun while still informative. Would reccomend!
During the AIARE I course Max said that he wanted us to feel empowered to make decisions in the backcountry. After taking some time to reflect and discuss with my classmates I believe that Max did a phenomenal job of empowering us to go into the backcountry and start making our own choices and learning experiences. I feel that I have the tools and resources, and an understanding of how to use them, to confidently travel in the backcountry. I’m so excited to continue going into the backcountry and engaging in all the learning opportunities that will come.
The AIARE 1 course with Alpine to the Max was a wonderful experience. I came in scared of the unknowns of backcountry skiing and left feeling empowered to make informed decisions. Max was a great educator and facilitated great conversation and intentionally answered all questions asked over the course. I’d recommend to anyone for an AIARE 1 course!

Max is a pro level instructor that still knows how to connect and teach the basics of an AIARE 1. He knows the material, the landscape, and keeps it light during an often heavy topic. We went into the field on a day when the rating was HIGH (4/5) and had an amazing, and safe, tour! He presents the AIARE framework in a way that you are able to put in to action. Thanks Max! I will be seeing more powder days and safer ascents after this course!!!
