Had a very positive experience taking the 1 day avalanche rescue class with Sam. I learned everything I hoped to learn throughout the day, with many opportunities to practice skills in realistic real-life scenarios. Sam was friendly and personable and ensured we got plenty of practice in with opps for questions, areas for improvement, etc. A great intro to backcountry safety.
Joey Thompson is a legend. My buddy and I did some mixed climbing and then some skills training with him and he was really the best guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of climbing with. He is an exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable alpinist, but also a great teacher who pushed us, fun companion, and very reliable and safety-conscious leader. Can’t sing his praises enough. At the end of the day the guide makes the trip but the school’s equipment and facilities were also top-notch so 5 stars all around.
Our kids (12 and 10) had an awesome 1/2 day experience with our guide, Josh. This was their first time outside of a climbing gym and Josh was great coaching them both. Very patient, positive and professional. Location was very convenient in the middle of Estes Park. Highly recommend.

My husband and I participated in the level 1 mountaineering course. We had never done any rock, ice, alpine or any other type of climbing. I must say that Josh and Dylan were excellent guides. They were very patient, calm, and informative. We learned a lot from these guys and enjoyed lots of random conversations. If you’re considering this course, I highly recommend Dylan and Josh as your guides. They are terrific!!
