Just finished an excellent 2 day climbing trip in Red Rock Canyon with Jere. I have done a little bit of indoor rock climbing but never outdoors. My friend on the trip had done some climbing years ago. I had no idea what to expect but felt very comfortable going into the experience. Jere provided a number of resources to help prepare before the trip, went a few days ahead of our trip in our to scout out the most appropriate climbs, and it was obvious from the start of the trip that we were in for an excellent experience.
He was patient, efficient, very thoughtful about where we climbed and did an excellent job introducing me to the basics of climbing and getting me comfortable with the entire process. Safety of the team was clearly his priority which helped someone increasingly afraid of heights feel surprisingly at ease throughout both days...even while hanging off of a rock face.
He gave us opportunities to practice (and reinforce) each new skill we learned (tying knots, belaying etc) while feeling confident that any mistake would be quickly identified and remedied. He also worked through a progression of difficulty with the climbs, building confidence, and on the second day we were able to do a series of ascents that took much of the day. It was a huge accomplishment personally and I am so thankful we had him as a guide.
