Brown Bear Trails

From the moment we cleared airport customs to being dropped off at the airport two weeks later, everything on our trek to Everest Base Camp was well planned, professionally executed, and so much fun! Our guide Shekar took care of the entire trip’s logistics from helicopter flights and acclimatization hikes to the smallest details like what was good on the menu for lunch and how long between destinations (to the minute!). He became a friend to our whole group as we hiked and was responsive to all of our questions and interests along the way. He provided the most amazing and memorable experience I could possibly imagine. I hope to have more opportunities to trek with Brown Bear Trails again soon!

Shekhar was our "fixer", the guide who knew how to solve every problem, and will keeping working around the clock to make sure the trip runs smoothly. No trek or expedition goes according to plan, but between Shekhar, the porters he hires, and everyone at Brown Bear Trails you will be taken care of (we had to deal with multiple diseases, lost luggage, broken gear, and flight delays!). Note, if you climbing make sure your cardio and nutrition plan is in great shape as even the smallest Himalayan peaks are steep. Our trip was the trek to EBC and a climb of Imja Tse (Island Peak). If I were to return to Nepal, Shekhar and Brown Bear Trails would be my guides!

Excellent trip! Team was friendly, experienced, with complete end to end logistics taken care of. We did the EBC trip with 9 people and it was the trip of a lifetime. Having an experienced company and guide made all the difference. I completely recommend Brown Bear and can’t wait to do another trip with them.

Shekhar and his team were both friendly and professional throughout the entire journey. At times, we had to improvise our plan due to various setbacks, but Shekhar handled the situation quickly and with ease. He also offered plenty of knowledge on the local area and culture. I would definitely trek with Brown Bear in the future.

Shekhar and his team were so amazing and helpful. A few of our bags didn’t make it into the helicopter in Kathmandu when we flew to Lukla. He helped us find gear while we waited to get them back, and had our porters bring them to our tea house at the next town. Everything was well taken care of and as comfortable as possible. I would use Brown Bear Trails again for future expeditions and would recommend them to anyone!
