Discover Altitude

I really couldn't have asked for a much better experience. I asked around various trekking companies in Kathmandu and found Kumar and Santosh at Discover Altitude Treks to be the most warm and willing to accommodate and answer questions. As a solo female traveller I was wary about going alone with a guide, however I am really glad I did. Suresh, my guide, was brilliant. Though it ended on a slightly odd note with some confusion about whether I needed to pay extra for having gone further on the route than initially planned, this was all very quickly resolved with Santosh and Kumar. Suresh is a really experienced guide, having done this for 15yrs, and full of local wisdoms and insights. He is clearly well known in and has good relationships with the teahouses and seems to be well respected by the other guides and porters, which I think speaks volumes. When I got quite bad altitude sickness, he was so knowledgeable and experienced in handling this that I decided to trust his judgment completely and it paid off. Thanks to him I made it through the highest altitude part of the trek in good health. He really went above and beyond. Suresh was a pleasure to spend 2 weeks with, and seemed to always make sure I got a fair price for things. I want to come back to do the manaslu circuit and will absolutely be doing this with Suresh, Santosh and Kumar at Discover Altitude Treks.

We had a fantastic 5 day short EBC trip with our guide Gakul. We hiked as far as Everest View point, with Gakul helping us every step of the way- even when trekking paths were closed and we had to go off route. Lots of information was shared with us as we learned about the people, wildlife and mountains around us along the way. Thank you Gakul for a brilliant trip!

I did the chisapani to nagarkot 3 day trek. It was interesting to see how the local people live and to walk through the villages in the hills. It was nice to have the meals and accommodation included. I did this trek as training for poon hill and it helped me condition for it. I will say someone said it was “easy trekking” and compared to Everest I am sure it is, it was personally the hardest challenge I’ve ever done. My guide suresh was really helpful and let me go at my pace when I was tired or struggling. I felt safe the whole time.

I did a private EBC trek visiting Kala Patthar and Ama Dablam base camp with Discover Altitude in November 2024. The trip was fantastic and my guide Teju was amazing! Kumar and Santosh (owner of the agency and his colleague) are super friendly, they greet you at the airport and drop you off when you’re leaving, you get a detailed trip briefing before you leave. My guide Teju was very helpful and knowledgeable, he does the best practices about acclimating to altitude and keeping his clients healthy with constant reminders about proper clothing and using your buff to avoid the dust. We got back to Kathmandu without the infamous Khumbu cough! Booking the private trek was a great option for me as I could customize my itinerary any way I wanted and go at the pace that worked for me. I very highly recommend Discover Altitude, they’re an amazing team, reliable and knowledgeable partners in Nepal!
