My most recent trek to Everest Base Camp was a fantastic experience, and I was incredibly grateful for my guide, Kapil, and my porter, Dipan. The weather was perfect, and everything went according to plan until the last day. When it was time to depart from Lukla to return to Kathmandu, the weather shifted, grounding all flights and leaving us stranded, along with hundreds of other tired hikers.
I was beyond impressed by how Kapil handled this challenging situation. He remained proactive and solution-oriented throughout, constantly searching for ways to overcome the obstacles we faced. Several other travelers even commented on his ability to navigate the situation and wished their guides had the same level of skill. While there are many excellent guides in the area, I felt incredibly fortunate to have one who not only cared deeply but also had the expertise to resolve issues in difficult circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
