Never would I have thought that the trip would leave me speechless with the amount of support Kilimanjaro Wander Women tours gave in order for me to succeed in one of my life goal. Julia and Ekeney was fast in accommodating my changed schedule due to an unprecedented war that changed my flights. After which they provided myself, Madie and Katie (two other guests) with an even competent guides, lead Asha and Rachel that definitely “guided” as through difficult terrain paths and even emotional turmoil. The Kilimanjaro Wonder women tribe provided all the needs and support for us to succeed. I couldn’t recommend this company enough and wish to do more trips with them in the future. Not only I am achieving my personal goal so does the purpose of the company in supporting Tanzanian women. I booked Kilimanjaro Wander Women because I was filming a documentary along Mount Kilimanjaro, and I knew I needed a team that aligned deeply with the values behind the project. Wander Women is proudly women-led, built on empowering women on the mountain, challenging gender discrimination, and creating space for women to work, lead, and thrive at altitude without limits. Kilimanjaro is hard... there’s no way around that! But Wander Women made sure our all-female team never felt alone in it. I lost count of how many times we heard, “You are strong. You can do this.” And every time, it mattered. Their leadership comes from both deep mountain experience and lived life experience. They understand what women need when something is physically and mentally demanding—not just technically, but emotionally. That kind of awareness can’t be taught in a guidebook. Along the way, we heard stories of gender discrimination and sexual harassment that many women have experienced while working on the mountain with male-dominated companies. Hearing those realities made it even more powerful to be part of a team where the staff feels genuinely safe, respected, and empowered. And as tourists, we have an important opportunity, and responsibility, to choose who we support. What values are we investing in? What kind of environments are we helping to create on the mountain? I can say with complete confidence that the ones Wander Women supports—and actively builds every single day—are absolutely worth investing in. Our guides Asha, Mary, Esther, and Rachel were absolute rockstars. Knowledgeable, capable, and quietly changing what leadership on Kilimanjaro looks like. They are carving out space for women on the mountain, and you feel the impact of that every single day on the trail. Our porters were just as incredible! They carried heavy loads with strength and joy, and always had encouragement to offer as they passed us on the trail. On summit night, we hiked for 6.5 hours to the top, and our summit porters sang the entire way. Six and a half hours of song, rhythm, and motivation. They knew exactly what we needed, and they carried us there—physically and emotionally. I’ve never felt more supported, more seen, or more encouraged on an adventure like this. Our team shared their stories so openly and generously that this experience felt less like a guided climb and more like taking on the mountain together as a family. Wander Women isn’t just a trekking company. It’s a collective force. And climbing Kilimanjaro with them is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I just completed the seven day Machame route to summit Kilimanjaro with Wanderwomen Tours. I strongly recommend booking with this company! Our two guides were very knowledgeable and attuned to how to maintain our health on the mountain. The whole group I was with summited under their care and guidance. As a group we were seriously impressed with the professionalism, care and skill by Wanderwomen over the seven day trek. The food was excellent, and they allowed us many luxuries like hot water bottles at night, being woken up with coffee in the morning and a private toilet tent. The team was uplifting and encouraging- many happy memories of singing, jokes and hugs!

My wife and I spent months researching a bucket list climb of Kilimanjaro and were intentionally looking for a women-owned, women-led guiding company. When we found Wander Women Kilimanjaro, their mission immediately stood out, and choosing them turned out to be one of the best travel decisions we have made. From the start, working with Julia, the logistics coordinator, was excellent. She was organized, responsive, and thorough with gear lists, training guidance, packing, and logistics, and made the planning process feel simple and stress free. We also appreciated connecting with Ekeney, the owner, whose vision and leadership clearly shape the company’s values and high standards. We booked a private four person, seven day Lemosho Route trek with two close friends, and everything ran seamlessly from arrival through summit. We stayed at Chanya Lodge before the hike, and our guides Mary and Neema met us there to check gear, walk us through the itinerary, and discuss altitude expectations. We felt prepared and well supported from day one. Mary was an outstanding lead guide. She carefully monitored our pacing, oxygen levels, and overall wellbeing, took time to understand each of our hiking styles, and knew exactly when to encourage us and when to slow things down. Her steady leadership on summit night made a huge difference. On summit night we started around midnight, reached the summit just before sunrise at about 6:15 am, and were back down to camp by around 9:30 am, which our guides said was relatively quick. The food was excellent, the tents and sleeping arrangements were comfortable, and the entire staff was professional, kind, and incredibly hardworking. We always felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. Choosing Wander Women Kilimanjaro allowed us to support a women-led company while also receiving exceptional service. We would highly recommend them to anyone considering Kilimanjaro and would absolutely climb with them again.
