Parikrama Treks & Expedition

I cannot recommend more highly Parikrama Treks and Expedition. Kumar Basnet organized a fabulous 26-day trek for me. We drove to Jiri and Bhandar and then trekked the famous “three passes” in the Everest region, as well as three 18,000 peaks (“ri”) and two base camps: Everest Base Camp and Ama Dablam Base Camp. I had the best guide of all my Himalayan treks in Khagendra Rai. They all were incredibly kind and generous and looked after me in a trip of a lifetime. They are the best. Greg

I first met Basnet in c.1997 when he was setting up Parikrama. He led us an amazing trip on the Himal Mardi trail, and he created memories never forgotten. Fast tracked to now, we kept in touch throughout the years and on my recent second visit to Nepal, of course asked Basnet and Parikrama to be our guide operator. Parikrama did a wonderful job, looking after us and making sure all our needs were met. Since I last met Basnet, it’s clear he’s developed a network of returning international clients based on trust and his experience to take care of them. We completed the Mohare Danda Trek, led by guide Surya employed by Parikrama. Surya, along with porters Michael and Neil made it an unforgettable experience, with their comradeship and attention to make sure nothing went wrong. They certainly followed Parikrama’s values of looking after the client and we couldn’t fault them on their knowledge to make it a successful trek. After the 6 day trek, we visited Chitwan for 2 days safari. Parikrama organised everything and they were constantly in touch with us to ensure we were happy. I know they went out of their way to ensure everything went to plan, and we are very grateful. I recommended Basnet and Parikrama Tours 27 years ago…and after the last visit, I will strongly carry on recommending them.

I had been looking at this trip to Lhasa and Everest base camp in Tibet for a long time, and I wanted to see it and feel it, they write that it is a "must see" experience, and that is a mild understatement, it was a fantastic trip, we were 4 participants, 2 from Canada 1 from the USA and me from Denmark, Every day was an adventure, with + 5000 meter passes almost daily, Glaciers and fantastic nature, yak oxen and dogs on the road and hairpin turns, monkeys and much more. But best of all was the camaraderie that developed along the way. it was also really nice to drive alone without a guide in front, so there was plenty of opportunity to take pictures and enjoy the trip at our own pace. would I do it again and would I recommend it to my friends for sure I have a lot of trust in all the people around Himalaya bike tours

Myself and a mate decided to do the 'Road to Everest' tour with Parikrama. From the outset communication via email was first rate with prompt responses addressing all our queries. We considered other companies, however Parikrama stood out due to their policy of smaller tour groups which, to our minds, lessended the chances of delays associated with breakdown, getting lost, crashes etc inherant in larger groups. Our initial positive experiences with Parikrama continued throughout our tour with nothing being too much trouble for our hosts to assist us with including organising accommodation and flights to Pokhara as a side visit prior to the tour start. Pricing of the tour was very reasonable as it included quality hotels throughout the tour, particularly our base in Kathmandu, Hotel Tibet, and included cultural tours around Kathmandu, Lhasa and other cities which were fabulous. The farewell dinner at a top class restaurant at a palace topped off the experience. Our guides and support crew went above and beyond throughout the tour to ensure our needs were attended to and the bikes were kept mobile. The high level of care was demonstrated when one of the participants had an accident in Tibet that required an ambulance ride, helicopter extraction and hospitalisation in Kathmandu. Our guides and support crew again did their all to address the logistical issues and ensure he was looked after promptly and as well as possible. Luckily a doctor was one of the participants and he gave great assistance and advice to assist in the evac. The care didn't end there, with follow-up visits from the Parikrama team to the hospital and assistance with communication and logistics to ensure the rider had the best care available and ultimately get on a flight home. My focus in this review is mainly on the Parikrama team as there are a number of tour providers for rides into the Himalayas and the scenery will always be there. I can't recommend this company highly enough. They are a family company who have been around for many years and are actively involved in all aspects of the tour. Mr Kumar ensures everything is right from the top down, his daughter Sushi attends to communications, logistics and took us on a wonderful day trip around Kathmandu, while Sujan, his nephew, was our main guide and leader for the trip. They all did their utmost to ensure a successful trip. The tour itself is well thought out and run in a very relaxed manner with plenty of time to take in the spectacular scenery and culture. Daily briefings explaining the day's route were held and any concerns addressed. Riders with GPS or mapping apps had routes downloaded each day and everyone followed their lead with a back-up vehicle containing our guides and mechanic. It worked exceptionally well. Our Tibetan guide/translator/ cultural attache, Gallic, was an absolute legend and made sure everyone was looked after, particularly at meal times, and was an exceptional source of information in the temples, palaces and monasteries that we visited. Also a special mention must be made of Suno Ali, our mechanic, who tended his flock of Royal Enfield Himalayas each night to fix any niggles and make sure they were handling the elevation extremes. What a wonderful experience the whole tour was with spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and expert guidance. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about such an experience.

This two-week motorcycle tour from Kathmandu to Lhasa and Everest Base Camp was a once-in-a-lifetime journey to mysterious monasteries, incredible Tibetan Plateau sceneries and Month Everest Base Camp. And 2300 km riding in high altitudes. The whole journey was well-designed and guided by professional guides both in Nepal and Tibet. I'd like to thank Parikrama Treks for all the preparations, paperwork needed to travel in Tibet and for excellent guidance during the journey. My huge recommendations.
