After searching for a few weeks to find the right trekking organization for my hike trip, I decided to go for Skyline Treks. Madhav gave me the confidence to go solo, which was the best decision for me. During my 15 days trek through Everest region, I had an incredible time together with my guide D.B. Before and during the trip everything was organized very well. I borrowed a sleeping bag from Skyline, which kept me warm during the cold nights in the mountains. After the trek Madhav invited me to his family home were I had a delicious dinner with his lovely family. Overall, I am very grateful for this amazing experience. Thank you all!

I have just returned from a trek to Langtang with my husband and son, with assistance arranged by Skyline Treks. I arrived in Nepal planning to arrange a porter via a local agency. I was initially overwhelmed by the number of different agencies and was unsure about how to choose. I started off by visiting the K.E.E.N office (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project) who gave some general tips on trekking and also had a list of member organisations. I looked up reviews and shortlisted 3 to visit. When I first dropped in to the Skyline office, we met Dheeraz, who as well as working as a travel manager works as a guide. He reassured us that porters and guides working for the agency were well-treated (one of our concerns). He explained that Skyline could arrange a porter for us and also deal with any other practicalities that we wanted help with. Subsequent email correspondence with Madhav reassured me that this was a professional outfit who seemed efficient. So, we booked a porter, and also arranged for a private jeep to the start of the trek. Madhav always responded to any queries or messages promptly, and followed through on commitments. In the event, we were provided with a porter who was also qualified as a guide (Rajiv Tamang). Rajiv did his best to take good care of us – showing us the route, walking with us and helping us over tricky bits (eg landslide areas), and supplied some anti-inflammatory gel when I was having trouble with my knee! He never put us under pressure to rush, and we decided how far we wanted to go each day and chose our accommodation. We had a great and memorable experience and would recommend this agency.

That is the number of times I have had the good fortune of working with Skyline Treks and Expedition to plan, construct, and experience some of my finest and most exhilarating moments in life. Whether you are a hardened trekker/climber or the freshest Nepal newbie – from the moment you land in this beautiful country, you are spoilt for choice not just in terms of amazing destinations, but also the sheer number of tour organisers. This merry feeling, though, can be quite evanescent and could very easily devolve into disaster (mental trauma, bodily harm, imprisonment, and even death) if you don’t choose the right partner, are reckless in your planning, carry along a noxious (and obnoxious) psychological baggage, and have a general lack of cultural appreciation & sensitivity, among other factors. Because, apart from Nepal being a culturally, socially, and politically variegated country, out of these hundreds of thousands of tour agents, organisers, and operators (many of them ‘hole-in-the-wall’, ‘one-square-foot space-on-the-street’, or plain ‘fly-by-night’) just over 1700 agencies are government registered to provide trekking experiences. And out of these, only a tiny handful have the depth of experience, breadth of capabilities, and the wide network of individuals & entities that need to come together in order to deliver a successful and truly memorable trek or expedition. Skyline, despite being run as a small-scale speciality firm, excels in just about every department and aspect of this convoluted business of treks and expeditions. The secret recipe – its people! Right from the managing director all the way to the porter, Skyline has some of the best and most experienced individuals in the business, who share a perfect chemistry and are in sync with each other. This synchronicity is vital to their business philosophy of doing things ‘the right way’; which is then reflected in amazing client experiences. I am very much looking forward to continuing my association with Mr. Madhav and his brilliant team.
