Incredible!! Our guide Filio was awesome and super knowledgeable and engaging. The trek felt equal parts cultural and scenic which was the perfect mix, and overall very fun. The lares trek is lovely as it is much less touristic and the landscapes are beautiful. 10/10 to Filio and the team!

Die ganze Tour war wunderbar organisiert. Unser Guide Filio und das Team haben sich die komplette Zeit super um uns gekümmert. Da im Februar Regenzeit ist, waren wir ganz alleine auf dem Trek unterwegs. Vorab haben wir Ponchos und Überzieher für die Rucksäcke erhalten, es hat jedoch jeden Tag nur ein bisschen geregnet. Das typisch peruanische Essen, das das Team täglich 3 x frisch für uns zubereitet hat, war sehr lecker und super abwechslungsreich. Vielen Dank an unseren Guide Filio!

Absolute 5 stars for the professionalism of the guides. I became seriously ill on the first day of the trip. I had severe altitude sickness which resulted in cerebral edema (too much liquid in the skull, pushing dangerously on the brain). It resulted in an epileptic attack, which I had never had before. If left untreated, you will die in a few days. ALWAYS use Diamox when you are not used to the height, even if, like me, you’re not experiencing altitude sickness symptoms. The guide Abelardo handled immediately in a highly professional manner. While I was vigorously shaking during my epileptic attack, he provided me with oxygen, which my body desperately needed. I calmed down, but didn’t realize the gravity of the situation and I couldn’t remember what had just happened. I wanted to continue the hike eagerly. Abelardo did understand what was happening to me, though. He had immediately called a moto-taxi back to the starting point of the hike. He drove all the way back with me, leaving the group alone with the second guide (there are always two guides!) where a taxi was waiting for us to bring me urgently to the emergency clinic in Ollantaytambo. In the clinic they gave me all the necessary medicine. Obviously, I survived, and thankfully there is no lasting brain damage. If the guide had been lazy or stupid, I might have died. If the guide had listened to me when I swore I was feeling good enough to continue, I might have died. I cannot thank Abelardo of TreXperience enough for his expertise. He literally saved my life.
